GRACE - Recently a friend asked me, ”When do you feel closest to God?” The answer is easy: Elevation Church. I wanted to be able to say ”when I'm praying, ” or ”when I'm alone, ” or something that sounded more spiritual. The truth is, there's no place I'd rather be than worshipping out loud on a Sunday morning beside a dear friend with our hands raised high in a posture of desperate surrender. I need it. Every week.

I first found God’s grace and mercy here in 2006. Thirteen years later, we have more campuses, more staff, and more volunteers... but the deep love and acceptance I experienced then, is the same today.

Who am I, TODAY? ~ Sometimes living out life as a follower of Christ can seem such a difficult and mysterious adventure.

In conversations with dozens of women over the past couple of weeks I realize we can get so confused when we’re alone and trying to figure it all out in our own minds.
•
But when we process (out loud) what we know to be true with a trusted coach, friend, or group of people who commit to non-judgment, things start becoming clearer. The dust settles. The mud thins out. The fear falls away. The sun rises.
•
The truth is, God loves us so much, he allows us to choose. Indecision is a trap. The key becomes understanding our values and living them out with integrity.

Confession: I have been a terrible guard over my husband’s solitude. I just want him to hear me, understand me, say nice things to me, me, me. 😂 But there's this tension between independence and intimacy. Have you experienced this?
•
I feel compelled to start things. Conversations (a lot), plans, sex (is this TMI?), everything. This worked for us. Now that I'm learning to get quiet, and to guard the stillness we both need, I'm seeing a level of strength and commitment in my husband that I couldn't see beyond my own frustrations.
•
Through this practice of stillness, I also noticed a desire to control and direct every little detail of life. An ”If I don't do it, then who will?” kind of fear. What a terrible lie the enemy has had me believing.
•
I think God is inviting us to more. I'm so glad he promises to finish what HE started in me and my husband. The process seems slow. I'm tempted to try to rush it along. But today, I'm committed to quiet. Not the brooding, stonewalling kind. But a more faith-filled kind that says, ”God, I really do trust you with our marriage.”

How are you processing the evidence of your life?
•
Sean and I enjoyed a National Geographic date night last evening all about the search for life...
How we’ll one day send a craft to check for signs of life on the icy moons of Saturn and Jupiter and how we've now seen life at the deepest, darkest, most pressure-filled depths of the ocean (7 miles down).
•
We were awe-inspired. As I process this evidence I'm reminded our creator God set the stars and moons and planets in place and he had an idea of you and me and life happened.
•
My mom traveled to another state for my birth because she was so embarrassed by her ”mistake.” I was 35-years-old when I found out the daddy I grew up with was not my biological father.
•
When we don't know how to love ourselves because we have fallen short of our own expectations, the gap can feel like the distance between us and the moon. But the evidence is clear. God is in that gap with us, asking us to move towards him and to trust him to write our stories. He is asking us today to see our lives through the lens of his love.
