You said you wanted to get involved in outreach events closer to your home – and we found a great one. This Saturday, October 8 – you can join in with your running buddies, your eTeam, or your school eGroup to support middle school sports at the Big South 5k.
The Elevation Blakeney staff will be there, along with others who believe in the power of sports to motivate and mobilize young people. Some studies have shown sports participation in middle school helps motivate students toward better grades, and students who participate have better overall health. But CMS and other school systems have struggled with how to fund their programs.
A portion of all Big South 5k entry fees goes to support middle school sports at a school of your choice. And because of your generosity, and Pastor Steven Furtick’s vision to give away 12% of everything that comes into Elevation Church back out into the community through outreach – your entry fee is already paid. All you have to do is sign up. If running’s not your thing, but you want to join in to help, we’ve got space available for a few more volunteers to support the race as well.
Last year’s Big South 5k at Blakeney had more than a thousand participants from 46 different local middle schools. And for those truly competitive types, race organizers claim it’s one of the fastest 5k courses in the South with an incredible downhill finish.
Registration closes online Wednesday at 5pm – so what are you waiting for? Run, Blakney, Run – and get signed up by clicking here, now!
